The evolution of practical teaching in medical education is necessitated by the inadequacies of the traditional Master-Apprentice model, particularly in ensuring patient safety and providing a broader spectrum of clinical cases for learning. Miller’s four-stage pyramidal framework serves as a guide, highlighting the progression from knowledge to action in clinical competence. The Peyton 4-step method is a powerful approach for teaching technical skills, emphasizing demonstration, deconstruction, comprehension, and performance. The method serves as a bridge between observation and execution, facilitating a more immersive learning experience. The Kern cycle framework is employed to guide the integration of simulation-based exercises into medical education curricula. Training models, including self-made options using 3D printing, offer cost-effective solutions for teaching technical skills. Crew-Resource Management (CRM) simulations, adapted from aviation, are crucial for instilling patient safety and nontechnical skills. Data on the effect of training and simulation on patient outcomes are scarce. Available evidence indicates a reduction of complication rates, improved procedural efficiency, and reduced radiation exposure.
