In contrast to diagnostic radiology, the role of structured reporting in interventional radiology is still limited. However, as several procedures and reports follow the same structure, e.g., port implantation, there is a potential for structured reporting in interventional radiology. Standardization of interventional radiology reports holds the potential to reduce reporting variability and may support procedural consistency across interventional radiologists. In parallel, it will allow automated data analysis, e.g., for retrospective cohort studies. Unfortunately, there is no evidence supporting the value structured reporting. There are several sources for report templates designed for interventional radiology, but local modifications may be necessary to cover local specific workflows without changing the minimum standard of important information.
