Interventional radiology has always been a rapidly advancing field with various new procedures and treatment options constantly being introduced. In addition to the development of new techniques and technologies, there is also increasing recognition of the importance of clinical skills. In recent years, all the major IR societies have made a push toward developing more clinical and patient-centered care. Nowadays, it is no longer a standard of practice to blindly accept referrals, perform procedures, and leave the care of the patient to the referral team. Interventional radiologist has become an integral part of clinical teams and is actively involved in patient evaluation and preparation, peri and post-procedural management, aftercare, follow-up, and complication management. It is therefore essential for interventional radiologists to possess a strong foundation in clinical skills to provide comprehensive and high-quality patient care.
