MR-guided focused ultrasound (MRgFUS) has emerged as a promising therapeutic approach for pain treatment in various bon lesions, including osteoid osteoma, bone metastasis, and back pain caused by symptomatic facet joint arthrosis. In the context of bone metastasis and facet joint arthrosis, MRgFUS offers effective pain palliation through devascularization of the periosteum, while in osteoid osteoma cases, patients experience relief by eliminating the nidus. The advantage of MRgFUS is that the ultrasound uptake by bone is extremely high, which results in a precise and controlled ablation.
