Technical success rates of percutaneous radiological gastrostomy (PRG) at least equal if not exceeds percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) at comparable complication rates. CT-guided PRG is a safe and helpful method (not only) when PEG is not possible, e.g., due to anatomical reasons like Chilaiditi syndrome, previous gastrectomy, hepatomegaly, or inadequate transillumination in PEG. Another distinct indication for CT-guided PRG is a high-grade obstruction of the upper digestive tract with gastroscopically not passageable stenosis.
