Over the last decades, there has been an increasing interest in percutaneous image-guided interventions in children. While many interventions can be performed with US guidance, CT- and MR-guided procedures are needed in selected cases. Considering justified indications and competent execution of the procedures, CT- and MR-guided interventions in infants are successfully applicable in children with limited risks. These approaches are suited to help avoid surgery. Particularly therapeutic interventions such as drainage, injection therapies, and ablation are thought to benefit from CT and MR guidance. However, the published data are very heterogeneous as different localizations (e.g., chest, abdomen), tumor entities, patient ages (adults and children), interventional instruments, and imaging modalities are used throughout the various studies.
