This chapter explores the potential of Imaginarium, an educational technique that uses AI-generated illustrations to facilitate the understanding of complex concepts in educational settings. Inspired by the board game Dixit and powered by Midjourney, Imaginarium enables students to create meaningful learning experiences through the collective creation of symbolic images. Incorporating imagination into teaching and learning processes has been a recurring focus in pedagogical literature, and recent studies emphasize the importance of fostering creative thinking to educate new generations effectively. Thus, Imaginarium integrates imagination as a foundational element in curriculum design, enhancing students’ ability to understand and make sense of complex concepts from a transdisciplinary perspective. Imagination is an integrative and flexible function that involves generating new ideas from prior knowledge. Imaginarium leverages this potential to support the understanding of complex ideas. By collaboratively creating illustrations, students explore, question, and reinterpret content, fostering a more meaningful and relevant learning process.
