The author’s team has been developing a new surgical robot specialized for microsurgery at Kyushu University since 2014, with support from a Japanese government grant. An overview of our research is presented in Fig. 31.1. As a function of doctor’s “hands,” we are creating robotic hands that achieve ultra-precise tracking accuracy of ±0.01 mm. As a function of doctor’s “eyes,” we utilize a 4 K 3D exoscopic system, which offers a resolution comparable to a visual acuity of 4.27.
