What should students learn when they are learning about religion in public education? This chapter introduces the notion of learning how to explore religion and worldviews as a new answer to this fundamental question. Expanding on the well-known concepts of learning about and learning from, learning how points to knowledge and skills related to methods and methodology to explore religion and worldviews. There is a growing interest for a more methodology-oriented religious education (RE) in Europe, indicating a methodological turn in the field. Offering new definitions of learning about, learning from, and learning how as three domains of learning, the chapter proposes a generic model of learning. Exploring the idea that the end goal of learning how could be to inspire a lifelong curiosity in the field of religion and worldviews, it is argued that a methodology-oriented RE has a unique potential of resonating with students. Learning how puts students on track to learn from questions of their own choosing and allow them to dive into ongoing events and debates. In this way, the notion of learning how invites us to prepare students for learning beyond the classroom and years spent in school.
