Religious learning is first of all learning and therefore to be classified in terms of learning theory. At the same time, it is determined by the object of religion in a specific way as learning about, from and in religion. Thereby, each religion sets its own emphasis. What this means is shown by the example of the Christian religion in confrontation with empowerment discourses by describing religious education as enabling and empowering.
