Transparency and Traceability of Agriculture Product Supply Chain with the Use of Blockchain Technology - Desktop Review Paper
摘要
The use of blockchain technology in the agriculture sector has merely gradually started to be used in the agricultural sector. In the agri-foods sector, blockchain is acknowledged as an emerging technology that can improve food traceability and offer a transparent, trustworthy, and efficient means of confirming the sustainability, safety, and quality of agri-foods. Very little has been done in the literature to review how blockchain technology has been used in agriculture. Therefore, the purpose of this review paper is to explore how blockchain technology has been used in agriculture, the food supply chain, and the provision of transparency and traceability using blockchain technology models to assist consumers in choosing the food they buy and consume. Research papers searched from conference proceedings, and journals were utilized for this review. Some of the databases used are Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, and IEEE Xplore. The outcome of this review highlighted the barriers to the adoption of blockchain technology, such as data security, preventing discrimination, digital infrastructure, human resources, and handling data that is already in existence. There is still a need for more research to provide solutions to the challenges and open issues. The utilization of blockchain technology presents a viable strategy for promoting a more dependable, safe, healthy, and sustainable agri-food system in the future.
