Application of Polynomial Regression in Assessing Students’ Academic Performance in Blended Learning

The paper focuses on the assessment of student performance in blended learning. Blended learning is a combination of classroom and online formats, combining all the advantages of these formats and excluding their disadvantages. The advantages of blended learning include flexibility, variety of pedagogical approaches used, reduction of time costs, no loss of social interaction of students with each other and the teacher, independence from time and place, individual control over learning, giving students the opportunity to organize their own learning activities, control and analyze their results. In the conducted research, part of the students’ out-of-class work in the framework of blended learning took place in an electronic course created in LMS Moodle. Students mastered theoretical material, performed practical tasks, and passed electronic tests. The Moodle provides information about both student learning outcomes and course attendance, student’s time in the e-course and their activity. This paper investigates the relationship between student’s time spent in e-course and student’s academic performance using polynomial regression. The conducted study showed that students who spent more time in the e-course tend to have higher scores and better academic performance. #COMESYSO1120.
