Developing a Big Data Governance Model to Improve Service Delivery in the South African Public Sector
摘要
Big Data governance is crucial for improving service delivery in the public sector, yet challenges persist in the South African context due to technological, organizational, and environmental constraints. This study aims to develop a comprehensive model for Big Data governance tailored to the South African public sector to enhance service delivery. Despite `that data can improve decision-making in organizations, especially in the public sector, there is a lack of a data-governance model, especially within the context of Big Data. A quantitative research approach was employed, utilizing a close-ended questionnaire distributed online. Data reliability and validity were assessed using Cronbach’s alpha, and regression analysis was conducted to examine the influence of various factors on Big Data governance. The findings indicate that organizational structure, systems use, service quality, and environmental factors significantly impact Big Data governance in the public sector. A robust Big Data governance model is essential for optimizing service delivery in South Africa’s public sector. The study offers a tailored Big Data governance model that addresses specific challenges in the South African public sector.
