The importance of awareness of information privacy and protection awareness has escalated due to the use of mobile devices to illicitly access online services, including social networks, and banking facilities, resulting in cyber security threats and risks. This study investigated information privacy protection among middle-aged adult mobile device users. An artifact was designed to enhance awareness of the privacy of information of middle-aged mobile users. Initially, a prequestionnaire was administered to middle-aged mobile users to determine their existing knowledge about the subject, establishing a baseline measurement. Following the demonstration of the artifact, a postquestionnaire was administered to the same group to evaluate the artifact's impact on their knowledge and understanding. A quantitative survey methodology was used whereby data was analyzed using a statistical package and results presented as descriptive statistics, frequency tables, and correlation tests to provide insights into information privacy and protection awareness among the target population. The findings highlighted the need to improve the awareness of middle-aged employees regarding information privacy. The study is important in that it will identify existing knowledge gaps in information privacy and protection among middle-aged people that will be used as a basis for formulating strategies to assist this seemingly vulnerable group.

摘要
