Senior managers who are climbing the corporate ladder must navigate complex environments to reach the top. One important element is their career trajectory. In this paper, we draw inspiration from research on human mobility and study career trajectories of senior managers in a career knowledge landscape. We create the knowledge space using a t-SNE model trained on data describing over a hundred positions held by 20,000 senior managers. We then study their transitions from position to position with the aim of discovering patterns of corporate mobility using a gravity model. We see that the trajectories form mobility flows that can be described by a gravity model. Our results suggest that mobility analysis is a valuable tool for understanding career trajectories of senior managers.

摘要
