Careful education and application of DFL can lead to digital citizenship, which will sanitise the digital landscape and improve the digital civic space. Several applications for digital education consider aspects such as investment skills, savings and financial decision-making strategies. This work looks at the impact of DFL platforms on digital citizenship by considering Africa as a case study. The top five DFL platforms in the year 2024, ranked by Sensor Tower, which is a leading global source of mobile applications and digital advertisement founded in the year 2013 to help marketers and application developers in addressing the needs in DFL, are considered in this research. An exploratory sequential design is used to identify the features of the five top-utilised DFL platforms in Africa to gather qualitative and quantitative data. The evidence indicates users consider the file size, accessibility, design, analytical tools, level of literacy required, security issues and offline capabilities when choosing DFLDigital financial literacy (DFL) platforms. Further analysis indicates that digital security, responsibility and integrity enhance the digital citizenship of the stakeholders of DFLDigital financial literacy (DFL) platforms, which affects investment and decision-making in financial technology.
