New information technologies influence the development of SME entrepreneurs is a research topic in Costa Rica. The objective of this work is to answer the question “What is the influence of information technology on the development of SME entrepreneurs in Costa Rica?”. The influencing or inhibiting factors of information technology adoption are determined, using the adaptation of the UTAUT2 theory. Method: Questionnaires with Likert scales are used to collect data. Social networks are used to send links and invite entrepreneurs to answer the questionnaire. 550 responses are reached, from which incomplete data are filtered, leaving 350 questionnaires for the PLS-SEM correlational multivariate statistical analysis. SmartPls 4.1.0.8 is used to conclude that there is a positive trend towards the acceptance of information technology for the development of SME entrepreneurs in Costa Rica. The limitation of the study does not consider the affective and contextual factors that interact with the cognitive beliefs of an individual. In conclusion, the use of technology by entrepreneurs helps them develop their digital skills that can be applied to their business processes.
