Artificial intelligence has fundamentally changed the way humans experience the world. Advanced AI systems can autonomously perform a multitude of tasks. However, with such advancement, ethical dilemmas arise around privacy, copyright violations, bias, and misinformation. The world has entered a new age marked by the fierce competition for supremacy in AI. Major corporations and Big Tech are heavily investing in innovation in finance, healthcare, and national security. There is an immediate need for human regulation and oversight to harness the power of AI systems, without allowing them to pose adverse consequences to society. This paper examines the issue of regulating AI and contributes to the existing discussion on assessing AI systems’ ethical sophistication.
