Utilizing Eye-Tracking Technology to Investigate Architectural Elements in Building Design
摘要
Prior studies indicate that poor buildings design and environment could cause psychological and physical awkwardness for residents (e.g. depression, chronic anxiety and Sick Building Syndrome). They also provide evidence of the impact of architecture on people’s behaviour and productivity in several fields (working in companies, learning in universities and recovery in hospitals). Therefore, capturing people’s requirements is a vital factor for successful building design and achieving design preferences. Involving people in the design process and receiving feedback is a difficult task and requires a lot of effort, time and new technologies. Therefore, eye-tracking technology is used in this study to explore visual patterns in psychology, neuroscience and usability and investigate the influence of architectural design elements (e.g. windows size, natural light levels and environment outdoor) on human focus on different construction design features. The result showed that architectural design features received high attention concentrated on the virtual environment.
