The purpose of this chapter is to present four additional regional university case studies, including two from Africa—the Pan-African University and École Supérieure Multinationale des Télécommunications; one from the Middle East—the Arab Open University; and one from Europe—the European University Institute. These case studies complement the ones included in Chap. 4 which were situated in the Asia Pacific and Latin America/Caribbean regions. The four regional universities included in this chapter have been established in different time periods and represent different campus models, i.e., single campus, multiple campus locations, and virtual/blended type of learning. To facilitate an analysis of the similarities and differences across the eight regional university case studies, the same topics and characteristics are covered in this chapter as in Chap. 4 . They include Founding and Establishment, Rationales and Objectives, Governance, Funding, Academic Programs, Research, International Engagement, and Looking to the Future.

摘要
