Building on the overall analysis of regional universities in Chap. 3 , this chapter focuses on providing case studies of four specific regional universities. Two of the regional universities are located in Latin America/the Caribbean—the University of the West Indies and the Latin America Faculty of Social Sciences and two universities are situated in Asia—the University of the South Pacific and the University of Central Asia. The purpose of this chapter is to discuss both the similarities and differences among regional universities while at the same time elucidating the key characteristics which categorize them as being co-founded and collaborative models of higher education institutions. Eight key characteristics are used for analysis in all the regional university case studies. These factors include Founding and Establishment, Rationales and Objectives, Funding, Governance, Academic Programs, Research, International Engagement, and Looking to the Future.
