Postpartum
摘要
The postpartum period is frequently defined as the first 6–12 weeks after giving birth, though some physiologic adaptations of pregnancy return to pre-pregnancy function months later. This period following birth is characterized by hormonal, physical, psychological, and social changes for the new parent, thus making it an extremely vulnerable time. Many individuals warrant additional support and non-routine care, such as in the setting of fetal demise and lactation suppression, substance use disorder, or intimate partner violence.
