The primary objective of this research is to investigate the effects of artificial intelligence technology in special education. The study narrowed in on the role of AI-enhanced social stories in teaching social skills to children living with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) in Saudi Arabia. A total of fifteen seasoned special education experts were interviewed, and their feedback was used to compile the report. The study established that AI-enhanced social stories improved the students’ communicative skills, such as interaction skills, initiation, and maintenance of communication. However, the incompatibility of most AI-enhanced social stories to the Saudi Arabian context made their application challenging. The researchers recommended collaboration with Saudi parents in developing the teaching content and equipping special educators with the skills needed to adapt the content stories to the local settings. The researcher concluded that AI-enhanced stories are highly beneficial in promoting the social skills of ASD students if fitted within the local cultural and linguistic contexts effectively.
