Agropolitan as a Mechanism Towards Sustainable Living of Rural Poor Communities
摘要
In many developing countries, export earnings significantly contribute to the economy. Although Malaysia’s poverty rate has declined, extreme poverty persists, particularly in rural areas. The Agropolitan project, part of the Rural Mega Leap Program, seeks to eradicate extreme poverty and enhance rural development. This study evaluates the impact of the Gahai Agropolitan Project in Lipis, Pahang, on sustainable livelihoods, involving 45 participants. Data were collected via questionnaires and analyzed with SPSS and Microsoft Excel. Findings indicate that the Gahai Agropolitan Project has effectively alleviated extreme poverty among participants. However, despite improvements in income and asset ownership, participants remain vulnerable in achieving sustainable livelihoods.
