This chapter covers the most recent advances in food biotechnology, crop engineering, and methods to underpin long-term food security. This chapter describes biotechnology’s new horizons regarding food security, which are increasingly efficient ways of safely identifying and managing pathogens in all stages of the bioprocess chain from inception to distribution. Given that infections are decreasing and that they focus on designing better pathogen-resistant crops, genetic engineering can be seen as a preventive measure for food security since pathogen risks due to contamination are also decreasing. The chapter also describes food preservation methods that address extended shelf life and a high nutrient content without jeopardizing safety. More of the chapter deals with areas of potential food waste reduction since bio-preservation and bio-climatic processes are being used to do something inhibitive on actions or to develop another region for compounds that alter taste. Therefore, stakeholders use bio-preservation to improve the uses of natural resources while ensuring that foods are preserved according to their audio quality and safety conditions. Taking an in-depth view of biotechnology diversity enables multiple uses to emphasize many more aspects to build a better food future.
