Leningrad architect and artist August Lanin is little known today as the author of synthetic projects that combined architecture, music, and colored light. His most interesting projects from the 1960s to 1990s were not realized, and are only known through descriptions, conceptual designs, drawings, paper models, and photographs. This article analyzes the issue of preserving these materials and proposes the idea of a project exhibition as a solution to reveal the originality of Lanin’s methods, the scale, and aesthetic values of his ideas. The possibility of reconstructing Lanin’s projects using 3D modeling of individual objects, as well as using multimedia technologies to immerse viewers in a special “emotional environment”, which the artist saw as one of the primary goals of his work, is considered in this paper.
