摘要

This chapter offers a brief historic account of the Einstein-Minkowski paradigm in terms of matrix representations of the “Lorentz group” \(\text{SO}(1,3)\) parametrised by three real “boost parameters” and three real angles. It also describes the physical law asserting that the total 4-momentum of a system of massive and massless particles is conserved in any spacetime collision process. Such processes are described in Chap. 29 .
