Spacetime Projectors and Relativistic Energy-Momentum
摘要
In Sect. 14.1 of Chap. 14 , local \(\mathtt {g}\) -orthogonal field projection operators and local \(\mathtt {g}\) -orthogonal projection tensors are defined with respect to arbitrary, non-null vector fields. These projectors facilitate certain calculations performed in subsequent chapters. The notions of relativistic energy and momentum, used to describe relativistic “particle collisions” are introduced in Sect. 14.2. This section also introduces the words “null signal” and “photon” used subsequently in the analysis of the Compton effect. The chapter concludes by illustrating the fact that the concept of simultaneity between any two causally connected spacetime events is observer-dependent.
