The chapter starts with a description of an international effort to find generalizable tools for exploring the psychosocial work environment in order to implement work organization improvements. The effort had input from epidemiology, physiology, and psychology. The chapter continues with another example describing relationships between musical activities and psychosocial processes, emphasizing emotional regulation as a central concept. The next theme deals with the researcher’s role—how researchers might be exploited for political purposes, and how extreme competition may contribute to dishonesty. Finally, the researcher’s temptation to become a guru is discussed.
