High-throughput multiparameter systems, including microtiter plate-based assays, flow cytometry and microfluidic devices, now enable large-scale simultaneous evaluation of multiple platelet functional parameters using minimal blood volumes and low platelet counts. These innovations are particularly useful for assessing platelet function in pediatric and thrombocytopenic patients, as well as in large patient cohorts.
