Ergonomics describes the interaction between the user and their work environment. Laparoscopic surgery requires more physical and mental effort from the surgeon. It mandates very close attention be paid to the proper arrangement of the operating room workspace, the choice and appropriate use of surgical instruments, the training of the surgical staff, and ensuring that all staff communicate well with each other.
