Laparoscopic surgery is a universally adopted and clinically validated approach, offering significant advantages in terms of safety, recovery time, and patient satisfaction. However, it poses unique challenges that require careful management. These challenges include maintaining a stable pneumoperitoneum, achieving safe access to the abdominal cavity, and mitigating risks associated with patient positioning during surgery. Additionally, intraoperative complications such as bowel or vascular injuries and postoperative issues like port-site infections, hernias, and rare complications such as air embolism demand proactive detection and prompt intervention. By emphasizing the critical importance of thorough surgeon training and preparedness, this chapter aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the complications associated with laparoscopic surgery and the strategies for optimizing outcomes.
