This study introduces both a conceptual and empirical approach to the analysis of demographic literacy. We define demographic literacy as a distinct and autonomous construct, separate from other forms of literacy such as numerical, informational, and financial literacy. Methodologically, we contribute to the measurement of demographic knowledge by proposing innovative indicators specifically focused on population aging. Furthermore, through an empirical analysis, we identify key predictors of demographic literacy in Italy, offering new insights into its determinants and potential implications.

摘要

This study introduces both a conceptual and empirical approach to the analysis of demographic literacy. We define demographic literacy as a distinct and autonomous construct, separate from other forms of literacy such as numerical, informational, and financial literacy. Methodologically, we contribute to the measurement of demographic knowledge by proposing innovative indicators specifically focused on population aging. Furthermore, through an empirical analysis, we identify key predictors of demographic literacy in Italy, offering new insights into its determinants and potential implications.
