In this paper, we prove the finite-time stabilization of linear control systems under the condition that a weak observability property is satisfied. The approach combines Lyapunov functions with sliding mode techniques. An explicit nonlinear feedback law that ensures finite-time stabilization is provided. Applications are further provided for an ordinary differential equation (ODE) as well as for the heat and wave equations.
