Sustainable School (SS) is a project developed with the aim of introducing sustainable practices into the school community. This project operates in several areas, such as: selective collection, composting of organic waste, soybean oil recycling, ecological soap production, development of school vegetable gardens and entrepreneurship. All of these actions are integrated into the interdisciplinary teaching of Environmental Education. In this work, we show the practice of SS as Social Technology. The target audience were students from public schools, undergraduate and postgraduate students and participants in the “Science for People” (“Ciência pra Gente”) project from five public schools. Students actively participated in the design and implementation of sustainable activities, nurturing a sense of belonging to the environment. SS brought numerous benefits, such as the reduction of organic and solid waste through composting and selective collection processes. The sale of ecological soap promoted entrepreneurship among students. Furthermore, the implementation of the school vegetable garden encouraged the production of knowledge in an interdisciplinary way and offered opportunities to explore the concepts of sustainable production and nature conservation. Thus, all the environmental actions attributed to schools by the Sustainable School project brought countless benefits to the school community, such as having sustainable habits in everyday life, reducing waste generation and learning financial education.
