The present chapter considers the issue of how smartphone addiction could be treated if it were to be classed as a disorder. Various types of interventions have been proposed from academic literature to treat smartphone addiction, including CBTCBT, exercise, and mindfulness. Meanwhile, popular literature (e.g. self-help books) is broader in scope and focus on practices of self-care and abstinence. This chapter will review different types of interventions and compare how academic and popular literature approach this issue. We then explore how smartphone and other technology addictions are currently treated in the UK, primarily by private clinics and the third sector, the role of policy, and the smartphone applications marketed as supports or treatments for smartphone addiction.

摘要
