Existing research on bilingual glossaries highlights their significance in various specialist domains, as they provide crucial resources for text processing and communication across languages. This article specifically concentrates on creating a glossary for the field of computational linguistics, a rapidly evolving area of research that continuously expands with new texts primarily written in English. Using a statistics-based automatic term extraction algorithm on a 40.000 sentence-pair parallel corpus of texts originally written in English and translated into Russian, the glossary is constructed and analysed. The aim of the analysis is to determine terminological correspondences between the languages or the lack thereof, thus providing insight into their terminological alignment. Automatically produced bilingual glossaries can enhance the accuracy and efficiency of natural language processing tasks, such as machine translation and cross-lingual information retrieval, contribute to students’ familiarising with complex concepts and terms in specialist fields like computational linguistics, and make communication and learning more effective.
