Do You Want a Pump, a Synthesizer, or Both?
摘要
Maybe you did not know it, but you might want a synthesizer that can emulate the sound of a piston pump. Mobile machinery is being electrified. This means that diesel engines are being replaced by electric motors. Consequently, noise that previously have been masked by loud diesel engines will appear. Oftentimes, this noise comes from hydraulic systems. It is therefore more important than ever to consider the sound when designing such systems. This paper is supposed to help with that by taking fluid power simulation into the world of music production—a synthesizer that mimics pump noise is presented. The synthesizer allows for real-time evaluation of different design and control approaches. The key advantage with this is that the user gets immediate feedback on how certain aspects impact the perceived noise.
