This essay contextualizes the discussion within the field of Physical Education, exploring its historical and practical perspectives and its relationship with emerging concepts, definitions, and connections to the contemporary digital landscape. Aiming to emphasize the importance of developing digital competencies among Physical Education teachers, this essay adopts a qualitative and descriptive approach through a narrative review. The topics are grounded in the field of communication, seeking to relate digital platforms, artificial intelligence, phygital reality, and physical practices, along with the impacts and demands these places on Physical Education teachers across different areas of practice. Finally, some considerations, perspectives, and possibilities will be presented based on practical examples, reflecting on topics such as physical activity, health, digital games, and media education within the various pedagogical contexts of Physical Education.
