The paper proposes a strategy for selecting an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system in the context of the Industry 4.0 project at AICA Pharmaceutical Laboratories. The strategy suggests evaluating multiple providers across multiple clients. The criteria used by eleven authors for selecting ERP systems were analyzed. The most common general criteria include compatibility with other systems implemented in the company, quality of technical support, cost, user experience, functionalities, data security guarantee, industry adaptation guarantee, and system versatility. In the context of Industry 4.0, general and specific criteria are evaluated. The most common criteria are: the current position of the ERP provider in the market, ease of use, modularity, level of customization, ease of cloud operation, and the ability to allow fast and personalized processing of large volumes of data. Additionally, in the context of the Industry 4.0 project at AICA Pharmaceutical Laboratories, the following selection criteria are also considered: the financial accounting modules are required to be certified by the General Directorate of Informatics of the Ministry of Communications of Cuba, the software, must be open source and it must follow a software as a service approach.
