Optimal Sensor Placement for Dynamic Identification in Historical Masonry Structures: Heuristic Methods and Brute Force Approach
摘要
This study investigates Optimal Sensor Placement (OSP) focusing on the dynamic identification of heritage masonry structures. Using the case of the Santa Ana Church in Seville, Spain, a comparative analysis is performed on two well-known optimisation metrics, the Fisher Information Matrix (FIM) and the off-diagonal terms of the Modal Assurance Criterium (MAC) matrix. These metrics are implemented through heuristic methods, which offer computational efficiency but suboptimal solutions, and brute force approaches, which ensure optimal results at a high computational cost. Information about the target modal shapes is directly obtained from ambient vibration tests, providing a strategy to effectively address common uncertainties associated with the traditional model-based approach to OSP. The comparison provides valuable insights into their applicability and performance. The findings contribute to advancing sensor placement strategies tailored to the unique challenges of heritage structures, supporting their preservation and maintenance through improved SHM practices.
