Supporting School and District Positive Behavior Support Implementation Through State Agencies
摘要
One of the distinguishing features of positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) is a commitment to developing systems of support for behavioral strategies and interventions to grow and flourish. Nowhere is this feature more prominent than in the support systems developed by state agencies to promote and sustain PBIS practices in their respective schools and districts. While previous chapters in this book address the foundational and core features of positive behavior support (PBS) and PBIS, and subsequent chapters address the application of PBIS practices across other contexts (e.g., school, district, classroom, high schools, early childhood, juvenile justice, and adult care facilities), this chapter will focus specifically on how state, province, and other within a nation agency (i.e., organization) can support the PBIS work at both the district and school levels. Throughout this chapter, the terms “state” and “state education agency” will be used to represent the major organization unit within independent nations. Likewise, the state will be equally applicable in nations that do not have internal organization units with independent implementation authority.
