Prioritization of Product Backlog Items in Agile Development Using Rank Ordering and Weighting Method
摘要
Prioritizing product backlog items is essential in agile environments to maximize business value. This prioritization is determined by the ratio of an item’s weight to its estimated effort, where effort is typically based on development time. The weight is assigned using multiple criteria decision analysis (MCDA) methods, such as the Rank Order Centroid (ROC) method, Inverse or Reciprocal (RR) method, and Rank Sum (RS) method, which utilize item rankings to compute numerical weights. This paper examines the suitability of these MCDA methods under specific conditions and presents a comparative analysis against the standard prioritization approach. The findings provide insights into the effectiveness and applicability of these methods, offering guidance on their use in agile prioritization processes.
