As modern vehicles generate exponentially increasing volumes of sensor data, efficiently processing, ingesting, and storing this data, as well as transferring it to the cloud, has become a significant challenge. The current market solution, which leverages the low latency of 5G networks, necessitates the deployment of edge computing devices in all vehicles and the transmission of vast amounts of data via 5G. This approach, however, is expensive. We propose a novel architecture solution that employs Dedicated Short-Range Communications (DSRC) based Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication to transmit vehicle sensor data to the Road-Side Unit (RSU). The RSU, equipped with the capability to process V2X messages, extracts the sensor data and transmits it to the cloud via wireless or wired connections. This architecture aims to provide a cost-effective alternative to the 5G-based solutions, ensuring efficient data handling and transmission within the vehicular network. In this study, we verify and validate the proposed architecture solution in our testbed.

摘要
