Physicality in Thinking
摘要
Physicality is often discussed in art studies—as experience or aesthetic experience. It is less discussed when pondering reflection or thinking practices. Pragmatism and phenomenology have described how physical capability and activities guide, allow and direct our thinking abilities. Peirce and Dewey have already drafted the direction we can take to understand how important it is to take physical practices and what we have enabled our bodies to perform into the abilities to reflect. I will extend Peirce and Dewey’s profound writings with the Radical embodied cognitive science by Chemero, reflecting it with Ingold’s thoughts. Finally, I will briefly describe some remarks provided by dancers and choreographers when using tools that intrigued further embodied reflections.
