This study takes a closer look at the different ways consumers are being taken advantage of in the e-commerce grocery space. Using insights from previous research, it identifies common issues such as misleading product descriptions, scams during delivery, unauthorized use of personal data, and difficulties with refunds or returns. Vulnerable groups, like the elderly and those with limited digital literacy, are particularly affected, often facing both financial and emotional stress as a result. The chapter also examines how well existing laws and regulations protect consumers, uncovering gaps in enforcement and implementation. It offers practical recommendations to strengthen consumer protection, calling for stricter regulations, greater accountability from e-commerce platforms, and better support systems for affected individuals. In addition, the study emphasizes the importance of empowering consumers through awareness campaigns, transparent complaint-handling processes, and advanced technology to detect and prevent fraud. Finally, it highlights the need for collaboration between e-commerce platforms, regulators, and consumer advocacy groups to create a safer, more trustworthy online marketplace.
