From the Gutenberg Bible to the steam engine, nuclear power, and artificial intelligence, it is difficult to find a simple, true definition of technology. While the Oxford Dictionary defines technology as “the branch of knowledge dealing with the mechanical arts and applied sciences; the study of this and the application of such knowledge for practical purposes, esp. in industry, manufacturing, etc.,” this clinical definition hardly seems satisfactory in light of technology’s scope and daily impact on our economic and personal well-being.
