This study investigates the readiness for Enterprise Architecture (EA) and its integration with Knowledge Management (KM) within the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development, Malaysia. The primary objective is to assess the current state of EA readiness and the potential for integrating KM practices within the ministry. This involves identifying gaps, challenges, and opportunities to inform the development of a strategic roadmap for EA and KM integration. The methodology employed is a qualitative approach, focusing on the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development. Data collection methods include quantitative surveys, with data collected from 150 responses and analysed using SPSS to gather insights on existing EA practices and KM initiatives. The Cronbach’s Alpha indicated that the questionnaire items were valid and reliable in measuring the intended constructs. The study also utilizes a readiness assessment model to evaluate the ministry’s readiness for EA implementation and KM integration. The findings reveal that while there is a foundational understanding of EA and KM concepts within the ministry, significant gaps exist in terms of infrastructure, stakeholder engagement, and alignment of EA and KM strategies with organizational goals. Key challenges include limited resources, resistance to change, and the need for capacity building among staff. The significance of this research lies in its contribution to the body of knowledge on EA and KM integration in public sector organizations, particularly in the context of rural and regional development. The findings from this research can help create a detailed plan for the ministry to use EA and KM to enhance service delivery and achieve lasting development goals. This study also offers practical recommendations for policymakers and practitioners aiming to enhance organizational readiness for EA and KM integration.
