Universities over the years have address the need to incorporate and adapt their practices for the current society needs, one of the lates common global issues is related with sustainability, then how to incorporate these practices on a practical bases in university campuses. Challenges for smaller universities are higher, also the influence of sustainability is emerging as an important factor in student decision-making for their studies, according to the QS Student Pulse survey 79% of students felt that it was very important that universities reduce their environmental impact and should be concerned with sustainability (QS Student Survey 2022). This paper is related to the exploration of the use of a SECI model approach for enhancing best sustainability practices specially in smaller size universities comparing students’ sentiments and perspectives regarding general sustainability aspects in two European universities. The study compares different practices and use a Knowledge Management approach to suggest implementation steps to enhance the sustainability practices at universities. Most common practices are identified, and some practical recommendations and experiences are discussed. In general, the perception of students was not has positive has anticipated and improving opportunities were identified. This paper is intended has a first discussion.
