This chapter examines how healthcare systems, regulatory frameworks, and community organizations must evolve to support families in protecting themselves from opioids. Building on the home-based interventions described in Chap. 6 , we explore systemic approaches that create multiple layers of protection for vulnerable families, beginning with the application of the checklist approach introduced in Chap. 3 . Next, we examine how healthcare institutions can embed opioid safety into standard workflows through electronic health record integration and automated safety prompts. Community-based support networks that extend protection beyond clinical settings are also examined, highlighting promising initiatives that provide ongoing family support. Regulatory approaches to medication safety—particularly the successes and limitations of child-resistant packaging—are assessed alongside recommendations for closing critical gaps in current legislation. Finally, emerging models of family-centered addiction treatment that challenge traditional individual-focused paradigms are analyzed, demonstrating how integrated service models address both the needs of parents with substance use disorders and their children. Together, these systemic reforms reinforce and strengthen family-level interventions.

摘要
